Join us as we celebrate the publication of Prof Sabina Faiz Rashid’s book Poverty, Gender and Health in the Slums of Bangladesh: Children of Crows by Routledge UK.

We will be joined by the author Prof Sabina Faiz Rashid who will read excerpts from her book, which is a compelling ethnographic exploration of the daily struggles and health challenges faced by young women and their families in the slums of Dhaka city, Bangladesh. Through women’s accounts spanning two periods (2002-2003 and 2020-2022), Professor Rashid sheds light on the enduring poverty, injustices and health hardships experienced by those living on the margins of society. We will also hear from Prof Sally Theobald and Prof Hilary Standing during the course of the launch.
